Hand Program
Your hands are vital to the hundreds of functions performed every day. The hand is made up of 27 bones and an intricate network of muscles and tendons that allow movement and awareness of the most delicate sensations.
Alpine Orthopaedic Specialists provide comprehensive care for the upper extremity and hand. Specialized diagnosis and treatment of the hand can be best served by the experience and care provided by Dr. Richard St. Onge and Dr. Terry Finlayson. All of the specialists in our renowned practice are experts and Dr. St. Onge provides the care of an experienced hand surgeon and not just a general orthopedist who practices hand surgery from time to time. Our specialists treat a wide variety of hand problems that include:
- Carpal tunnel syndrome - Frequent numbness, tingling, or pain in the hand
- Thumb Arthritis - Continual use and stress on the hand makes this a common site for arthritis in the hand
- Ganglion Cyst - a non-cancerous, fluid filled mass, commonly occurring on the back of the wrist
- Trigger Finger - an irritation within the finger that causes the tendon to "catch" and then suddenly release
- Trauma - fracture and/or severe injury of the hand
The Latest Technology and Techniques
Flouroscopy and Electromyography are some of the latest techniques used by our physicians to observe bone movement and measure electrical transmissions between muscles and nerves.
Minimally invasive surgical techniques such as arthroscopy and endoscopy are emphasized in surgical procedures. Fiber optic lenses and microscopic cameras allow our surgeons to perform delicate procedures through tiny incisions that cause minimal disruption to the healthy tissue in the rest of the area below the surface.
We provide specialized care for your hands that you need to maintain a vibrant and healthy lifestyle.
