Utah Hand Specialists

Help for hand pain

From routine tasks to intricate hobbies to the simple human touch of a handshake, hands are integral to every aspect of living. Taking a true orthopaedic approach to hand treatment involves thorough and extensive training in the complexity of this extremity. The hand experts at Alpine Orthopaedic Specialists have pursued this training, enabling AOS to provide the best possible hand and upper extremity treatment and care.

Our hand specialists use leading diagnostic techniques to assess the condition of muscles, nerves, bones, and joints in the hand, wrist, arm, and elbow. If surgery is necessary, fellowship-trained hand specialist Dr. Brent Miller has the experience and expertise to treat a full range of injuries and ailments. Dr. Miller focuses on not just how the hand will look after surgery, but how it will function. This approach is especially important when treating hand deformities. Dr. Miller’s specialties include joint fusion and replacement, reconstruction of simple and compound fractures, treatment of arthritis, carpal tunnel treatment, microvascular repairs, and tendon interposition arthroplasty.

Endoscopic carpal tunnel release and other techniques

Dr. Miller often employs minimally invasive surgical techniques such as arthroscopy and endoscopy, using fiber-optic lenses and cameras to delicately work through tiny incisions. These techniques ensure less scarring and faster recovery times. He has performed one such procedure, endoscopic carpal tunnel release, over 3,000 times in his career. Recovery from endoscopic carpal tunnel release is much more rapid and typically less painful than the open carpal tunnel release.

When it comes to upper extremity care at Alpine Orthopaedic Specialists, we view ourselves as physicians and surgeons, but also as coaches – offering you a helping hand to get through what is necessary in order to get back to what you love.
