Dr. Jacob Pugsley, D.O.

What Dr. Pugsley can do for you:

Sports and Occupational Rehabilitation

Dr. Pugsley applies his extensive background in athletics to enhance sports and occupational rehabilitation for his patients. With his experience as a former Decathlete and captain of the Utah State University track and field team, he offers a comprehensive approach to evaluating and treating musculoskeletal injuries. His goal is to help patients achieve optimal recovery and return to their daily activities or sports as quickly and safely as possible.

Therapeutic and diagnostic injection under fluoroscopy or ultrasound:

These methods allow him to precisely guide injections into specific areas of the body, such as joints or the spine. Therapeutic injections can provide relief from pain or inflammation, while diagnostic injections help determine the source of pain by temporarily numbing an area. This precise targeting enhances the effectiveness of the treatment and helps the doctor assess the patient's condition more accurately.

Platelet rich plasma therapy:

Dr. Pugsley utilizes Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) therapy, a treatment that involves using a patient's own blood to promote healing. The process begins with drawing a small amount of blood, which is then processed to concentrate the platelets and growth factors. These components are injected into areas of injury or inflammation, such as joints or soft tissues. PRP therapy helps repair damaged tissues, reduce inflammation, and alleviate pain, making it an effective option for conditions like tendonitis or arthritis without the need for surgery.

Radiofrequency neurotomy:

Dr. Pugsley performs radiofrequency neurotomy, a minimally invasive procedure designed to reduce chronic pain. This technique involves using radiofrequency energy to heat specific nerve tissues, which interrupts pain signals being sent to the brain. By carefully targeting the nerves responsible for transmitting pain, this procedure can provide long-lasting relief for patients suffering from conditions like arthritis or back pain, allowing them to improve their quality of life without more invasive surgical options.

Initial placement of a spinal cord stimulator trials and the FAST procedure:

A spinal cord stimulator is a device implanted in the body to help manage chronic pain. During the trial phase, a temporary device is placed to assess how well it alleviates pain. If successful, a permanent device may be implanted. The FAST procedure, which stands for Functional Activity and Stimulation Technique, is a method used to optimize the spinal cord stimulator's settings to maximize pain relief and improve the patient's overall function. This innovative approach aims to enhance the effectiveness of pain management strategies for patients with chronic pain.

“I can't say enough about how wonderful Dr. Pugsley and his staff are. I will, hands down, recommend him to everyone I know.”

“Dr Pugsley is the very best Back Dr I've ever seen in 35 years since I was crushed under a Honda and broke my neck a few years later.”
